Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist
Basic Job Duties
Assume a primary role in the development, implementation, and coordination of a Vocational Skills Training Program for persons with disabilities. The Vocational Skills Training curricula will focus on Job and Life Skills for Vocational Success, Community Volunteer Experiences, and Simulated Work Experiences; Specific job skills that will support community job placement will be the focus of the training. Training Modules will be developed for:
Janitorial/Custodial/Housekeeping - Computer Basics/Data Entry – Dining/Food Service
Packaging/Material Handling – Kitchen Support/Bussing/Dishwashing
Other modules will be developed based on the interests and needs of the people we serve and available job opportunities in the community.
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A/B.S) from four-year college or university in the human services or education field; prefer at least one year of teaching experience and/or direct care experience working with persons with disabilities.
Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, have good social and assessment skills, have the ability to work independently and interact professionally within the public domain. Must have commitment to work with persons with disabilities and demonstrate a belief in the principles of recovery and empowerment for persons with disabilities. Willingness to work flexible hours and possess basic computer navigation and work processing skills.
