Installs new and rebuilds existing servers, configures and tests hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Installs, configures, and troubleshoots SQL Server database management platforms.
Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configures CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
Configures, installs, and tests various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS).
Performs network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, and hot fixes.
Monitors performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
Monitors system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
Repairs and recovers from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted parties.
Researches and recommends innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identifies approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
Contributes to and maintains system standards.
Executes weekly and monthly operations checklists.
Provides Level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
Communicates with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

Proficient in several of the following technologies: Windows Desktop / Server Operating Systems, Linux (RHEL/CentOS or Debian/Ubuntu), LDAP / Active Directory, Networking Hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless, etc…), Networking Concepts (VLAN, switching, routing, QoS, VPN, etc…), Peripherals (printers, projectors, barcode scanners, etc…), Virtualization (VMware), PowerShell or other scripting languages
Familiar with several of the following strongly preferred: Microsoft Azure Infrastructure, Network Wiring, Video and Physical Security Systems), Telephony (VoIP, T.38 FoIP, Asterisk, HylaFax), Database Administration (MS SQL Server, MySQL)
Familiar with web related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and of network/web related protocols
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. Occasionally moves and installs computer and other related hardware components up to 50-75 lbs to required work stations and sites
This individual in this position will be required to regularly communicate with internal and external customers and staff, and perform other job related tasks. Must be able to exchange information clearly and accurately in all situations.
Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to run cables, mount projectors and security cameras, install wi-fi, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other related equipment.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position at workstation 80% of the time
This position requires the majority of the time to be spent in front of a computer screen. Must be able to accurately perceive and identify all position related information.
